Cottenham CLT Awarded Full Bid from Community Housing Fund
Wed 15 May 2019
With the help from EC Community Housing Cottenham CLT have been successful in their bid of £159,900 for pre-development costs from Homes England Community Housing Fund, with the hope to build genuinely affordable homes for local people in the parish of Cottenham, Cambridgeshire.
The CLT would like to build a development of up to 30 two or three bedroom houses that will be affordable in perpetuity for either rent or shared ownership and will be given to those with strong local connections to Cottenham.
They have been gaining support from their community by actively engaging with community groups, organising public meetings to assess the needs of the community, attending community events and regularly updating the local people through their website and newsletters.
As part of the neighboourhood plan and assessed by an independent advisor the Housing needs survey identified the need for around 90 affordable homes locally and the CLT was formed to help address these needs.
The next steps for Cottenham is to select a suitable architect and take a closer look at the sites that have been offered for development.
